The Networks' Objectives

Save Andaman Network's Objectives

  1. Provide immediate relief for small-scale fisher-folk and ensure appropriate immediate and long-term rehabilitation of communities and coastal resources through people's participation.
  2. To encourage "self governance" and communities' participation in designing their own recovery programs.

The Collaborative Network's Objectives

  1. Highlight the problems faced by marginalized groups, namely small-scale fisher-folk, women, children and migrant laborers, as a result of the tsunami.
  2. To use data and information in formulating rehabilitation plans for communities, occupations, natural resources and the environment.
  3. Provide a direction for government relief policies that is conducive to communities' needs through the participation of different sectors, namely the communities, the academic sector and the government.
